I've had quite the eventful week. Wednesday I was in the backyard, cleaning things up, pressure washing the sidwalk and patio, moving things etc when the lawn areator slipped out of my hands, crashing to the sidewalk spilling the rocks off the top...right on to my foot. It knocked me backwards and I was stunned for a second until the pain set in. I've never had a broken bone before, but was pretty sure I did this time. I've never felt pain like that before (and hope to never feel it again!). I was laying on the ground in the backyard, yelling for Dan who was in the front yard mowing the lawn. 3 of the neighbors were in their backyards, so I was trying not to cry out loud or sound too alarmed while yelling for Dan, the kids were in the house watching TV and no one came. I finally after 10 minutes of laying there sobbing and yelling for someone, decided I was going to have to get back to the house on my own. I tried to walk and that wasn't working, so I crawled. I never realized how big our back yard was until I had to crawl across it! Long story short, I finally made it inside, sent Brayden to get Dan-who, incidently, had his "wife-canceling" headphones on so he couldn't hear a thing even when the mower was off. I swear those things are going to "accidently" end up in the disposal one day-I hate them! Anyway, he called my mom to come look and see if we should go to the dr. by the time she got here my food was black and swelling. He decided to take me to the dr. and have it looked at. The dr did some x-rays and said I had two fractures in my big toe, wrapped it up and sent me on my way. I went home and iced it and propped it up and was in the worst pain all night long. I couldn't get any relief. I felt like such a wimp! I had no idea a broken bone hurt so bad. The next afternoon, my reg dr called and asked what had happened and how I was. I told him I was in so much pain, but I guess I needed to just buck up and take it. He told me something didn't look right on the x-ray and wanted me to see a podiatrist that afternoon. I finally got in to the podiatrist (who was a bit irritated with the x-rays and diagnosis) who took one look at the x-rays and said my foot had been crushed and there were bone fragments (I had asked the dr the night before what all the white dots were on the x-ray and he said they were just extra bones that everyone had "you're big toe is fractured, you'll be fine"), my big toe was fractured in two places and my next two toes were fractured as well. Yep, the one the dr had taped it to was also fractured, no wonder it hurt so much! My third to is fractured from the tip, through the middle of all three bones, and maybe a hairline fracture in the bridge of my foot. He casted my foot and told me to come back in a week, and 2 weeks and we would x-ray again. I was quite upset with the first dr. but VERY thankful for the second one. All it took was a few minutes of his time to look at the x-ray. My foot is still hurting pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as that first night! Thanks Dr. Gold for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to look at my x-rays!

These are the rocks that landed on my foot!
